How Did Gon Lose His Hand

Relax time with Nier AutomataIn many ways, Gon Freecss is your typical anime protagonist. Selfless, kind, and relentless in his pursuit of saving others, Gon is universally loved and admired. Although cliche, his never-say-die attitude is a factor that makes Gon so appealing. He never knows when to quit, pushing himself physically and mentally to overcome the odds. And fans of the show love that. But unlike some protagonists who always overcome their opponent without consequence (you know who you are), Gon often pays for pushing himself. Throughout the anime, the lovable hunter has broken bones, doubted his abilities, and stared death in the face. Hunter X Hunter sends a message that sometimes the good guy doesn't always win. An iconic segment of the brilliant Greed Island arc, the nen-fueled dodgeball match saw Gon, Hisoka, Bisky, and Killua face off against nen-master Razor. Throughout the match, Gon and Killua push themselves to new heights, mastering nen control and power output to finally defeat Razor (with a small dose of Hisoka's help). However, after consistently releasing massive amounts of aura, Gon passes out, a result of pushing too hard. Furthermore, Gon's refusal to give up, in severe injuries to Killua's hands.

Terrified, Gon regrets being too pushy, understanding that Mike is not your normal animal.

When fans think of Gon's relentlessness, it's usually associated with combat and training. However, sometimes Gon's curiosity gets the better of him and the young hunter pushes until he gets his way. During the Zoldyck Family arc, Gon and his friends attempt to visit Killua. There are two ways into the Zoldyck residence, lifting the extremely heavy gates, or taking the side entrance. The group is warned that the side entrance is guarded by a dangerous beast, but Gon insists it's fine as he is loved by all animals. Gon comes face to face with Mike, a beast that is trained to protect the Zoldycks and is a danger to anyone else. Terrified, Gon regrets being too pushy, understanding that Mike is not your normal animal. This battle with epic. A memorable moment on Greed Island, Gon takes on Genthru, a bomb-making nen user responsible for the deaths of several hunters. Although talented, Gon is not quite at Genthru's level, remaining on the back foot for much of the fight. Rejecting a plan formulated by Killua, Gon wants to teach Genthru a lesson for his actions. And the hunter succeeds in doing this, defeating Genthru but losing an arm in the process. If it wasn't for a rare healing card offered to Gon, the hunter would be permanently without an arm. After making it to the top floor of Heavens Arena, Gon quickly learns the basics of nen in order to pass the test posed by Hisoka. However, with a very limited understanding of how to utilize nen, Gon is seen as an easy victory for many of the top floor competitors.

Gido challenges Gon immediately, and although informed of the dangers, Gon accepts. The young prodigy is outclassed throughout the fight, evading some attacks but unable to consistently defend his opponent's nen-infused spinners. By the end of the fight, Gon is defeated and suffers a broken arm in the process. This fight perfectly encapsulated Gon's character. The final stage of the Hunters exam required each individual to defeat their opponent. Gon fights first and his opponent is Hanzo, a shinobi trained since birth in the way of the ninja. It's clear from the first few seconds that Gon is outmatched. Hanzo breaks his arm, ribs and warns Gon that if he doesn't surrender then he will suffer further. Although Hanzo knows of a thousand ways to make an opponent quit, Gon's stubborn attitude and natural likability appeals to Hanzo, who decides to concede defeat. Gon passes the exam (as does Hanzo eventually) but is treated for several broken bones. Hisoka is one of the strongest characters in the Hunter X Hunter universe, possessing mastery of his nen to go along with a lust for blood. Since meeting Hisoka, Gon has desired to fight him but remains aware of the power gap between them. During his nen training, Gon gains confidence in his abilities and decides to challenge the sadistic clown.

She possessed an inhuman amount of nen, second only to the Chimera Ant King.

As expected, Gon is outclassed but does manage to land a strike before losing the fight. There were no serious injuries resulting from the clash, but Gon was all too aware that Hisoka could have killed him if he desired. The Phantom Troupe are a criminal organization made up of sociopathic and immensely powerful nen-users. Despite knowing this, Gon ends up clashing with the Troupe several times during the Yorknew City Arc. Gon, along with Killua, is captured not once but twice and comes dangerously close to revealing the identity of Kurapika. Throughout the arc, the pair escape death and play a part in a plan that ends with the death of a Troupe member. Gon and Killua leave Yorknew with their lives still intact, but their association with the Troupe could come back to haunt them. Neferpitou was a monster unlike any other Gon had ever faced. She possessed an inhuman amount of nen, second only to the Chimera Ant King. Her presence alone caused Knov, an experienced hunter, to suffer a nervous breakdown. The Chimera Ant was comfortably defeated by Kite, and her power was assessed to be greater than Netero's. When Gon came face to face with the Ant, his strength couldn't compare. But fuelled by anger and revenge, Gon sacrificed years of his life in exchange for the power to defeat Neferpitou.

But his age and his seemingly clueless attitude had viewers questioning his capabilities.

He avenged Kite's death but nearly lost his own life in the process. In order to join the Chimera Ant extermination team, Gon was asked to defeat a current team member and an expert hunter. Knuckle was skilled with nen and his abilities exceeded Gons. Of course, this didn't stop Gon from accepting the challenge. It never does. Gon fights hard and troubles Knuckle. But Knuckle uses his APR Gon of his nen and emerging victorious. As a result of Gon pushing too hard, the young prodigy is left without nen for 30 days, relying on Killua for protection. Netero's strength was a mystery for the majority of the anime. Fans knew he was the Chairman of the Hunter's association, implying that he possessed some power. But his age and his seemingly clueless attitude had viewers questioning his capabilities. However, after challenging Gon and Killua, viewers understood that Netero was no joke. Neither of the nen-using prodigies could touch Netero. Killua realizes this early on and quits, opting to reserve his energy instead. But Gon refuses, spending the entire night trying to defeat Netero. He successfully lands a blow on the chairman but leaves himself exhausted for the remainder of the Hunters exam.

Mia described her as someone who can confidently express her thoughts and feelings.

Scott Shelly ( Hangul:셸리 ) is one of the female protagonists in the webtoon. She begins a one-sided relationship with Jay at the start of the series but as the story progress they have a mutual crush on each other and as of chapter 378 they are in a relationship. Shelly is the only female member of the Humming Bird Crew. Because she stayed at England before coming to Korea her personality is perceived as very headstrong. She does not like it when people talk badly about her friends, especially Jay. Shelly also has a lot of stamina and strength, she can keep up with the group's pace when racing and can actually send people flying with her punch (Although that may be for comedic reasons) but never got into the street fights with the guys of the crew. When she was hit on in her first appearance on the series she refused with a lot of sass. Mia described her as someone who can confidently express her thoughts and feelings. Although her words are harsh, it is because she never sugar coated her words with her friends. And with Jay, Shelly is very clingy and flirtatious. She has very foreign features: pale skin, her eyes actually look more mint green in color than blue, blond wavy hair. It is known later in the series that she has a tattoo in the side of her arm near the wrist that reads out "temet nosce" or "Know Thyself". At school she wears her uniform usually without the red vest and both wears the skirt and pants.

She is often seen wearing high-end brand clothing, but also occasionally wearing street wear and tomboyish clothes. When riding her bike, she usually wears a jacket and helmet with the same color as her eyes or the Hummingbird crew's hood. She is tall, with long thin legs, a small waist and a bigger bust. Not much is known about Shelly, but it is established that she is from England and she requested to transfer to Sunny High School because of Jay. It was told in an early episode (Ep. 27) that she will be in Korea for one semester. Shelly is the granddaughter of Sunny High School's principal, Nick. When Shelly was a kid, she didn't want to get married and promised Nick that she will just live with him forever, which caused Nick to think that Shelly is not interested to guys until she got interested in Jay. That also caused the over protectiveness of her grandfather. Jay saw what happened and chased the thieves to get her purse back. She refused on taking him to the hospital but Jay refused. She picked up his student ID that had fallen to the ground and, motivated by her encounter with Jay, called her grandfather, asking him to let her attend Sunny High School. Her second meeting with Jay was in their classroom. She kissed him out of the blue and the gossip that Shelly and Jay were in a relationship quickly spread around the school.

When Jay, Dom and Minu got suspended, Shelly visited them and scolded Dom and Minu badly about how Jay got caught with their actions. Jay got pissed and told her to screw off, she ended up crying and running away. When Jay was about to say sorry, he got a pink rose from Minu, saying that he should give it to her. He couldn't and Shelly went on saying that she'll forgive him if he became her boyfriend for a week and Jay agreed. She joined Hummingbird as the only female on the team, she continued to flirt with Jay and when Jay was teaching Mia how to ride a bike, she kept on intervening and wanting him to teach her even though she knows how. On a special episode, Shelly was seen riding a bike in Jay's neighborhood. Minu and Kay noticed her, Kay was thinking of who might Shelly go out with and ended up being shocked that it was his brother. In the last scene, Jay and Shelly are resting after riding their bike together, and she comments that Jay suits biking more than studying. The Preliminaries for the League of Street has started, only Dom and Jay were able to race at the first two rounds. After that, they found out that Jay's birthday was near and planned to celebrate it. She didn't showed up at school on his birthday because she was the one who prepared the gift that they got for him.

They pulled Shelly of Jay who was already littered with kiss marks.

When the boys with the worried June except Jay planned to give Jay a strong alcoholic drink, they didn't expect Shelly to drink it, thinking it was juice. They are dumb-founded and later on, a drunk Shelly came closer to Jay and told her how she was hurt by his actions and proceeding to kiss him the second time. They pulled Shelly of Jay who was already littered with kiss marks. Mia was the one who brought Shelly home, when she was sober enough, Mia asked her if she liked Jay which she answered yes. Mia told her how she envied her for being able to confidently express her thoughts and feelings. Shelly answered that she doesn't understand Mia's concern and told her an advice to start believing in herself more and learning to love herself. This pushed Mia to contact the modeling agency that reached out to her. Before the race, Shelly was being hit on by a member of the Bullet Crew who will be racing against them. The glasses guy kept on hitting on her even when she's denying him. Vinny came to her rescue and punched the guy when he didn't stop.

That led to the glasses guy to take drugs to have a revenge against the Hummingbird Crew. Shelly took the lead until he passes the baton to June. As the race ended, she tried to kiss Jay in his sleep but he moved and she wasn't able to do so. She also took the test with Minu and Dom since, in a sense, she is still a student at Sunny High. When Mia was modeling, a bunch of girls kept on talking about her, gossiping about Mia like dating an old guy or having a sugar daddy to be able to model. Shelly obviously tried to help her. Yuna and Shelly later on went to Mia's house in hopes that they could get her to come to school. On the way riding a bus, a guy came up on her behind and was hitting on her, she shut him down while cursing, very contrasting of her appearance. When Yuna, Mia and Shelly were talking at the park near Mia's house, Shelly started saying something harsh to Mia, although it is a way to actually let Mia see what's happening beyond her room which she choose to lock herself with. Yuna reprimanded Shelly, saying she was too harsh and Mia broke down but then was silent at what Shelly said. After that talk, the three of them came at Heri's bike shop so that Mia can say thank you.
